Meet Nick

Nick Hardeman has been a key player in California government for more than 20 years. Having served in the top positions in both houses of the California Legislature, Hardeman has developed a powerful understanding on how to navigate the halls of government. He has deep relationships with key decision makers. As Chief of Staff for State Senate Leader Toni Atkins, Hardeman served as liaison with the Governor’s Administration and the State Assembly. He was a lead negotiator on six state budgets and nearly every major policy bill. In addition, he oversaw a political operation that led to election victories that grew  the size of the Senate Democratic Caucus from 26 to 32 members over three cycles.  Hardeman has extensive experience resolving complex issues, both political and policy, including the PG&E bankruptcy, landmark climate legislation, infrastructure streamlining, and a statewide tenant eviction moratorium, to list only a few. Consistently ranked as one of Capitol Weekly’s Top 100 most effective influencers, Nick Hardeman is a key player who has what it takes to unlock legislative, political and regulatory successes.

In addition to serving as the Principal at Hardeman Strategies and Consulting, Nick Hardeman serves as the Senate Rules Committee Appointee on the Board of Directors of the California Exposition and State Fair and, in March of 2024, was appointed by Governor Newsom as the inaugural Chair of the state’s new Fast Food Council. A graduate of St. Mary’s College, Nick also serves on the board of directors for the California Storm, a semi-pro women’s soccer club.
